Dual Language

These courses are taught by TESOL endorsed teachers who have additional training to help in English Language development who offer additional support and differentiation.  The placement and eligibility for these courses is determined by the annual ACCESS assessment score.  The level of course is determined by their ACCESS score.  This course serves as the students' English Language Arts credit that is necessary for graduation. 

These are traditional World Language courses where students will explore French Language and Culture. These courses are open to all students and can be taken as additional electives by students who are on a Dual Language pathway.

These courses are designed to develop and explore the Diné Language and Culture.  These courses are open to all students.  Native American Students with valid CIB or 504 documentation may be eligible for a Native Language and/or Culture Seal. 

These courses are designed to celebrate Spanish Language and students’ connections to the language through heritage, culture or community exposure.  These classes are open to any student who wants to learn Spanish or has limited Spanish proficiency.  Students are encouraged to continue on this pathway in order to become proficient in their reading and writing.

These courses are designed to help develop biliteracy skills and students are expected to have a high level of oral language to be on this pathway.  These courses are run much like an English Language Arts class in that they will be reading at a higher level, conducting research and doing various types of writing. This is a required course for the APS bilingual seal. 

These courses are taught by highly qualified teachers with a Bilingual Education Endorsement in addition to the license to teach in their content area.  These courses are required for students seeking their APS Bilingual seal and should be taken along with a grade level Spanish Language Arts course.
