I'm not sure....what do I do?

Come visit with Mr. Leh in the Student Success Center to learn more about the Internship Program and find out if it's right for you!

Internships

How do I decide if an Internship is right for me?

The AHAHS Internship Program is for on-track 12th Grade Students who wish to explore a career field of interest.

This program is ideal for students who:

  • Want to get a "head start" on career-based and/or volunteer experience
  • Are comfortable with real-world learning situations
  • Wish to pursue learning opportunities outside of the traditional classroom
  • Are ready to challenge themselves

What are the Program Requirements?

Interns will be enrolled in the "Community Service" (530101) class for elective credit.  The first 4 to 6 weeks of the Program, students will meet during the school day with Mr. Leh, the Internship Coordinator, to prepare for their Internship Experience.  After the student receives their Internship assignment, they will spend 6 hours per week at their Internship site instead of attending the on-campus class.

Successful Student Interns:

  • Are able to commit 6 hours per week to the program.  Students with 3 or more AP classes, after-school jobs, and/or sports/clubs may wish to speak with Mr. Leh before enrolling in the program.
  • Have reliable transportation to and from their Internship Site.
  • Are enthusiastic and motivated to learn new skills and concepts.
  • Are willing to learn from a variety of professional and community-based resources.
  • Have strong communications skills.
