Principal's Weekly Message - September 13, 2021
Posted 9/13/21

Good evening Jags,

We hope you are doing well and that your weekend was restful.

Please remember to let us know if your student is absent whether it is one day or for multiple days.  For short term absences, students can and if able, may keep up on their work though Google Classroom or meet with their teachers upon return. For longer absences, contact Mr. Leyba with our Attendance Office to help with your students successful return to school.

We would like you to use ParentVUE as much as possible to excuse your student from school, however your next bet is to use our attendance phone line to leave a message.  We are short with secretary coverage at the moment and this process helps us in our extremely busy office.

This is the last week our counselors are working with Seniors and their transcript reviews.  If your senior was absent when counselors visited their Gov’t and Econ class, please have them reach out to them, they will be calling them in to conduct this extremely important review.

Underclassmen photos are THIS WEEK beginning on Tuesday during English Class.  You can purchase them using the photo purchase sheet given in class.  Senior photos will be at the end of October.

Seniors with free periods, and students needing an off campus pass for CEC, sports, or special classes, get your sticker from the library from 8 am through lunch, or from Student Support Services in the Activities Office after lunch, starting Thursday September 9th.

We have moved our Open House to a Virtual setting and changed the date to October 13th.  We will be sending out more information but wanted you to save the date.

The first 6-week grading period ends this Friday.  Final grades will be posted next by Wednesday afternoon.

Are you an AHA volunteer or would you be able to help out on a field trip?  All volunteers must have a current background clearance (all clearances are valid for two years).  Volunteers serving in roles other than field trip chaperones or in roles that need unsupervised access to students, may apply or renew online for a Supervised Volunteer clearance ($12) at: https://www.aps.edu/community/volunteer-with-aps  Supervised volunteers must be in the line of sight of an APS employee at all times.

It is a tough time for so many students, especially when we have to send them home for illness.  Please be kind to our nursing and secretarial staff, they are following guidance given.  If you would like to speak to me about your experience or situation, please feel free to call me at 505-243-1458, ext. 60015.

Thank you,

Ms. Cisneros, Principal
