Principal's Weekly Message - 2/10/20
Posted 2/11/20

Good evening Atrisco:

It was a fantastic Masquerade Ball this weekend!  Students looked amazing, had a lot of fun and behaved well!

Thank to our Mecha, Ethnic Studies, Jaguars for Positive Change who helped out this weekend at our Food Drive and operation campus clean-up.   We've got the best students and families in the city, and together we can change the world!

Advisory attendance is very important tomorrow, as teachers show next year's course offering presentation.  Students will receive their course selection cards tomorrow during their (parentvue/studentvue) scheduled advisory class.   The presentation is on our website.  Please review and/or help your student make a good choices for their future.  Lots of opportunities to take advanced courses, bilingual courses, attend Career Enrichment Center and dual-credit classes at CNM and UNM.  Next week students will get a chance to attend a course fair on Wednesday.

6-week grading period ends this Friday, 2/14.  Teachers will be calling and emailing home this week to notify you of low grades, attendance, behavior concerns.  Teachers will enter grades next week, grades will be posted officially by Thursday night (2/20). Remember the goal is to help your student maintain a balance in all academic courses to pass every course and stay on track to graduate.

Student Conferences are on Thursday 3/12.  Teachers will be reaching out to families beginning tomorrow to set up appointments should they have concerns related to behavior, attendance and potential semester fails.  Reach out to teachers if you would like an appointment if you do not meet the stated criteria.  We will have resources and a registration table for school year 20-21 available too.

Next week, there is no school on Monday (2/17) in observance of President's Day.  Our schedule will be a XCCBA, with advisory on Tuesday and an Course Fair on Wednesday.

We are working on increasing our attendance efforts, encourage your student to attend every day.  Use Parentvue to add an absence notification.  Email teachers if you have question about your students attendance.  Who will win February's attendance war?  9 - 10 - 11 - 12???

Good luck this weekend to our athletes - wrestlers as they battle in the district tournament and to our swimmers at State this weekend. Lots of fun vibes to our Student Senate as they head to State Competition too.

Finally, our Boys Basketball team is in the running for district title and I want to send a reminder about fan etiquette as the tension for the win builds.  We want to be good sports and classy in the stands.  If you have any concerns about student or fan etiquette at home or away, please let any one of our Admin Team know.  We are there to help maintain a safe and fun environment.   Thank you!!  Now... lets get that three-peat!!

Have a great week and long weekend!

Ms. Cisneros
