Principal's Weekly Message - 2/4/19
Posted 2/4/19

Hello Jaguar Families:

TRANSCRIPT REVIEW UPDATE: Senior transcript reviews will be completed this week.  All underclassmen (9-11) transcript reviews will be through advisory classes. Please make sure you are reviewing the information shared with your child regarding their transcript.  We are teaching them about the importance of how to understand it.

Have you checked your ParentVue account for a review of your students grades?  If they have D's or F's, we want them to attend tutoring.  Email their Advisory Teacher to sign them up on Tuesday and Thursday after school until 3:30 PM.  We will have bus passes if they need to get home afterward.   Our library is also open for those needing to use computers and study groups until 3:30 PM.   Please encourage study habits and expect above average grades.   Call the school if you need a tutorial on ParentVue.

Last week, our Incoming Freshmen Night for Class of 2023 was well attended, as were our Family Night and Bilingual Night in the last few weeks.  Please reach out to our Family Center if you'd like to volunteer around campus.  We could always use the help.

This week, we have field trips for our AVID students and our Mariachi students.  The legislature field trips began late last month with our Mock Trial and Law students and continue with our Black Student Union this week.

Winter sports are going well!  Metro Wrestling was at AHA this weekend, two of our students, OJ Sanchez and Damien "D2" Marquez, who won his match, made it to finals.  Congrats to the Rams who took home the big trophy.  Last week Boys Basketball beat Cleveland HS in OT because of the amazing half court shot by Joziah Ramos which tied the game and sent it into overtime.  If you haven't seen it yet, I suggest you Google it.

Several of our clubs are helping out in the community and going to their state conferences - Band, Mariachi Herencia, Mock Trial, Model UN, Student Council and Jaguars for Positive Change to name a few.

This Saturday at AHA is the ACT Test and we are also hosting a Medicaid Community Event from 9-2 in our Main Cafeteria.  Please come to the health fair.

Have a great week, go Jags!!
